the day leonard cohen and phil spector decided to make an album together marked the beginning of one of the most controversial partnerships in either mans career.
over the course of three weeks, the pair had written 15 new songs, a selection of which ended up on the 1977 album >death of a ladies man<. it is true that a cursory listen to the album suggest that the whole thing was simply a ragbag of crazy notions thrown into the air to see where they landed. but if you pay attention, it will quickly make sense.
pressing on 180 grams audiophile vinyl, comes in gatefold sleeve.
ihr eher kindliches, mal zart hauchendes, mal schrill piepsendes stimmchen erinnert an plastik-pop-acts der 80er-jahre - ist aber nur der zuckerguss auf ihren grandiosen tracks.
paul brtschitsch and michael kunz aka puresque deliver part 2 of two limited edition lp samplers (which fits into sleeve of part 1). heavily supported by carl craig, luke slater, dave clarke, dvs1..
a symbiosis of two perfectionists who would like to surprise with something new and got lost in the deep widenesses of techno. now, zdenko grbavac and morgenklang let it come true and release their first record in common. the two tracks are technoid, impulsive and surprising at the same time. >epos< comes out on top at the middle distinctivly. the tracks baseline is remindful of the early 80s synth-pop and sounds in combination with the remaining parts like an unstoppable train. the track >novum< is a monster of chord and pushes relentlessly. however the athmosphere creates a certain easiness and moves the audience in a dreamy state.

from universal rejection, the northern cell of resistance that gave us last years acid bomb >le coq< by arab league, comes disappearer.
operating from the suburbs outside of stockholm, disappearer has not entered the techno game to find out how its gonna be played. on >now you see me, now you dont< he dictates right away. with its deadly linear pulse and rising and falling oscillators, >now you see me, now you dont< is a steady-handed techno shocktreatment of the nervous system, exemplifying how it should be done in 2012.
a good feeling starts if the first drumsounds of >feel so good< find your way from the boxes in the space. the head own style drawers belonging open in the half dozen and argue about the most correspondent blueprint. house? in any case. disco? unfailable to hear influence. electro? also not to dismiss this. dub? the father of the whole atmosphere. cosmic? also this is a part of the authoritative ingredients in the here available circle of the sounds. and the dance floor suction strengthening cow bells are anyway a tight of a track element of all last music generations! quintessence is, here two artists have poured your wide motley collection in influence in the form of a single track, have condensed and with it have interlocked at least 40 years of dancefloor history in fresh kind with each other.

luca lozano presents klsunderground001 is klasse recordings first foray into the various artists compilation field, a small but perfectly formed ep consisting of five tracks from various family members and extended homeboys. the idea behind the series is to take the focus back to the music, the ep aims to concentrate on tracks that are made with passion, pride and belief. music that will stand the test of time against the torrent of seemingly endless throwaway material that floods our inbox day by day. the tracks on the ep speak for themselves, so i will do away with the usual wacky metaphors and just urge you to give them a listen. thanks goes to mr. ho, red axes, viadrina, jordan peak and anders hellberg for providing the music and a special thanks goes to the latter three for joining the klasse family and being part of our new series. enjoy the music and thanks for listening. - luca lozano
masami akita and lasse marhaug have been working together since the mid 90ies. the first release on marhaugs (now deleted) label jazzassin records in 1995 was the >first rock< split single. in 2001 merzbow and jazzkammer (marhaugs project with john hegre) released a live album. later, akita and marhaug executed several live collaborations, but often with other artists such as hair stylistics and jim o rourke. in 2010 they finally got together to record as duo. recorded at gok sound studios in tokyo the results can now be heard as >mer mar<.
made using a combination of scrap metal screeching, analogue synths, and enough effect pedals to give you overweight with most airline companies, >mer mar< is a tour de force for both of these noise veterans, hinting to some classic 80s merzbow jams such as material action.

ursl goes epic! this ep from lake people is kind of a mini-album, the 4 tracks are produced in a certain way of a theatrical dramaturgy. enjoy and listen carefully! by the way, for the sake of resolving a recurring misunderstanding, lake people is only one person. the name deals with the music itself and especially with the audience.
your dancing shoes arent smoking enough yet?! well then you can now apply some extra yards with the traumtanzen bonus miles edition to get rewarded by raumakustik and einsauszwei (ellie the cat / thirty5 records).
tip! vinyl only! deepest analog mixup between detroitish oldschool sounding art and dubtechno. neurotron is the harmonious connection between human nerves and electronic physics. the result: a positive change of perception by electronics.
the continued rise of alan fitzpatrick is the biggest story in uk techno right now. having enjoyed a rapid ascent since his emergence as the new kid on the techno block in the latter half of 2009, fitzpatrick now enjoys a status as a highly respected and in-demand producer...
mutex recordings are back on wax with fluid ep from unbalance. this guy put out one of the most decent productions in 2011 with his white-labeled unbalance series and definitely is one of the artists to watch for in 2012. his music is an incredible collage of everything you love in techno: thick groove, detroit-styled chords and spooky futuristic effects. argentinas techno hope jonas kopp on remix duties completes the release with his unique recognizable straight-to-the-dancefloor material that really kicks ass! this one is a record that shouldnt be missed!
the first reference of subsequent records ltd on vinyl format, by the owner luis ruiz, promoter of the old school techno sound of the new millennium. the ep contains 4 tracks strictly analog, based on tr-909, thought on the dance-floor. the techno in all the forms, through euphoric style, dark and melodic structures of detroit techno.
straight japanese killer techno !!! tight, mechanical and brutal with an underlying funk, snow monkeys is the sort of multi-faceted beast that kobayashi is known for. the rough edges are allowerd full space to create tension but the track is tempered with some brilliant, shimmering and evocative melodies that slide into the mix for just the right amount of time before subsiding into the churning groove. one of the new school of japanese techno producer, a.mochi delivers a well pitched, moody version on the flip. pacey yet measured in its progression its a version that takes the originals tension to new levels and wont be a surprise for anyone who has heard his productions / remixes for the likes of figure, cocoon and a-wave. hideo kobayashi is one of the few producers who can skip from deep or vocal house though to searing techno with ease and snow monkeys is a perfect example of what he can do when it comes ot the tougher sounds
first only available via decks.de
el nino andres delivers a full length debut for hija de colombia, and the music he provides for this releases is a step further in deepness of tech house. album is a intensive orchestral affair, going for over 70 minutes of drums, big piano hooks, strings and other mostly acoustic and analogue instruments, over a percussion layered beats.

m_rec ltd is proud to welcome on board cassegarin, greek-british producer tsiridis and berlin/vienna based composer and producer evirgen. in this new vinyl m_rec ltd, they show two original tracks and a remix by ed davenport. the a side opens with a painter of modern life, a track where they paint their perfect rhythm of modern life. a sequence of hypnotic techno where the rhythms are never heavy, clean sound. a brilliant and apparent melody seems to revolve around. a touch of class that only few can maintain.complete the a side, a remix of an artist who has a lot of quality: ed davenport (figure spc, liebe detail, nrk music, etc.) he drags the original track into a vortex of syncopated rhythms and deep atmospheres, the groove that comes out is amazing. on the b side cassegrain show one track. palette is very techno, the rhythm is direct and straight without stopping. light and soft sounds rise up slowly. everything is transformed into a pleasant trip, exciting and alive.

supported by: anthony collins, tiefschwarz, jozif, paco osuna, kate, simko, lee curtiss, davide squillace, danny tenaglia, andrew grant, laura, jones, luca bacchetti. back after a brief hiatus, the air london imprint is proud to present new recruit sam russo, who means business on their lucky no.8 release. a two tracker of deep and dubby tech-house >violet town/ you need< embodies analogue grooves with no-nonsense attitude. sam russo is blessed with the kind of technical prowess that many would expect from a sophisticate with far more years behind him. a true beat wizard, russo has been firmly under the wing of leftroom label boss matt tolfrey, collaborating with him and fellow young blood huxley and is one of those genuinely gifted engineers of sound with the potential to be one of the most prolific producers on the london scene.
after years of absence on the music scene, international techno superstar cj bolland returns with a big track that takes him back to his nineties origins, reminiscent of the camargue glorydays. now ready to storm the dance music world once again, this is a taste of whats to come from the heart & soul of the techno mastermind.chicago obviously refers to the city of house, back when house was house, with funky organs, a variety of beats and the most beautiful strings. on the remix we get a deep workout from voltron, a melancholic future garage stepper from title, and a nasty dubstep delivery from syndaesia.
funckarma goes in league with onionboy (darko esser), both delivering a track of their own, and a remix of each others. funckarmas rusty w is lush electronics and heavy dubstep at the same time, effective & abstract dancefloor artillery! onionboys remix is a 100% old school electro track, solid as a rock and reminding a bit of old rude66 and satamile tracks. onionboys kokon is an electronic beauty that keeps building up.. tick layers of nostalgic synths over firm beats... magical! funckarma turn this track inside out with their typical and complex idm beat structures that can only be done by the funcken minds. another uncatagorizable shipwrec release, limited to 300 copies, full colour artwork and a download code to redeam all audiotracks and artwork in digital format.

karat is delighted with this new single by seuil. we have been watching this guy attentively in his progression and we are glad to finally find him on karat while his production skills have reached a ripe condition. we guess his rise has just begun so watch him carefully in the near future. the two tracks of the record, in different ways, are close to karats spirit, deep, funkyand abstract enough to be used as a floorfiller or at home for a precise listening.
>sub boogie drama< is a jazzy atmosphere with an elegant restraint, even if you can feel the real swing in it.
>ketalgine network< offers a true inner odyssey, deep, sensual, funky and exquisitely oppressive.
played by: hernan cattaneo, marco bailey, tassilo, dubfire, monika kruse, pig&dan, davide squillace, troy pierce and many more. now a key member of the sci+tec family, shdwplay aka shoddy lynn and skyler taugher return to the label with their third and possibly strongest release to date, the nerve noise ep.
and here they are: the cream of the crop, first time on vinyl as a limited edition of 500 copies! respectfully remastered and selected by team harmonia, the music of other power sounds more contemporary in 2012 than contemporary music itself does. (take simhaghosha for example. sounds like ultra-advanced instrumental hip hop, doesnt it?) without a further ado: enjoy these intergalactic soundscapes from the mind of a true visionary. this was high tech jazz a decade before underground resistance, and instead of detroit it was recorded somewhere in the foggy forests of finland during 1978-1985.
big with mathias kaden, dorian paic, meat, robert dietz, chistian burkhardt.... the second release for this year is also coming from laurentiu gavrila better known as funk e. the tracks blew our mind right away and here is also another thought we would like to share with you for this series of two eps divided in part 1 and 2. string theory - 2 pianos that are in the same room, if u play one note at one of the pianos, the string with the very same note from the other piano will resonate as well. that string is the heart!
10 track minimal ambient album >about the cycle of life and both its sundry and seemingly important moments.< beautiful release, drenched in melancholia. nice!
another entry into the lonesome hero roster, ed shepherd.having hoarded an arsenal of hardware goodies, shepherd employs his passion for all things analog into a beast of a 3-track ep.remedy grabs 90s acid house by the shirt collar and shoves it into the modern vinyl scene with a heady lfo drone that just wont quit.changing direction, britta epitomizes the fleshed-out inner romanticism shepherd continually uncovers throughout his ever-evolving studio process.and then beaker,an homage to technos sequenced-and-squelchy dan bell era. another quality release on this nice little underground label.
following the stunning album that (finally) surfaced on tirk records last year, seventeen-piece live disco band escort arrive on sister label nang via red music by popular demand with two of the most prevalent cuts from the album, cameleon chameleon & starlight, remixed by anglo-japanese powerhouse max essa, and red records label boss and ilija rudman. ilijas cut of cameleon chameleon is as funky as they come, enveloping strains of the originalin his silken synth work and driving dance-floor percussion. edits of adeline micheles vocal hook are teased in throughout, beautifully done but never deriving from the fact that this is strict dancefloor stuff. next up, max essa delivers a stomping rendition of long time favourite, starlight. his cut stays true to the original, retaining vibe, funk and feeling, but giving it that subtle injection of house that is just made for peak time at the dance. if you like your disco live, the escort collective has a couple of uk dates penned in for march / april 2012, so keep em peeled!
disco deviance is coming straight outta chicago for their latest release as legendary dj and edit supremo rahaan wields the blade on two lost disco classics. proceedings kick off with the looped up chicago-style boogie of >make me whole<, a groove that is 100% guaranteed to work the dance floor. while over on the flip, rahaan digs even deeper into the crates and comes up with >shut up & rock me< an absolute dance floor bomb of a cut! lovingly edited and re-mastered for modern floors.
the first release for their rogue cat sounds imprint is the >no stress express!<, a beautiful piece of swampy psychedelic disco/rock. the 11min original takes you on a dark ethereal adventure thru spiky guitar riffs, mutant brass stabs, melting warm fender rhodes piano, silky deep synth chords, an array of sexy afro percussion, heavy dub live bass, and a lush but eerie live string section which all comes on like a dinosaur l jam session via a david mancuso loft party! so go on and take a walk on the rogue side of town baby!
london based act natural records was founded in 2011 by jamie ward. focusing on quality house for the deeper dance floors, the aim is to release music with groove, warmth and soul, pushing respected artists whilst simultaneously searching for the next generation of producers and djs.
